While we quite literally carved out our profession from natural stone, our experience led us to discover that nature could in fact be improved upon. Natural stone is beautiful but expensive, and irregularities can sometimes make it unpredictable to work with. By layering limestone dust and other natural elements into hand carved wooden molds, we are able to create a material that is just as strong as natural stone yet better suited to carving, especially intricate patterns. And unlike cast concrete or fiberglass mixes, our "reconstituted" stone is created using geological principles to ensure it mimics the veining, shading and other unique characteristics of its natural counterpart. Once the piece is unmolded, we go through the finish process of hand carving details to ensure sharp contrasts and smooth lines. Depending upon a client's specifications, we can also apply a tea stain to the piece, giving it a natural aged look. Please click on the thumbnails below to view larger photos.
